Not As Planned...

This is the only picture from today! Serena was helping Bret play with the toy, pushing buttons for him. It was pretty sweet! As you can see, Bret loves watching her!

Serena spent almost 3 hours in the tractor with Gary this morning! Daddy & Gary had to go do hay, and indulged Serena by bringing her along. She was so excited! Of course, she had no idea what they were going to do, but she just gets really excited to go to 'work' with Daddy! ;) They strapped her into the jump seat in the cab of the tractor, and there she stayed the whole time! Whenever Gary had to get out of the tractor, she would mess around with buttons and levers until she finally discovered the HORN!!! After that (so I'm told), she honked the horn pretty continuously! She was one happy camper when she finally got home! And I got all the packing done and got the house in order! :)

We headed up to Jordan's parents' house this evening. Serena was very excited to see Gompa and Gompa (she doesn't seem to differentiate between the names just yet, but she definitely knows which one she's talking about!). We let her stay up late because she was so wound up!

Then, things got interesting! We got a call from Daniel & Andria that they were headed to the hospital with what appeared to be preterm labor. They were expecting to have an ultrasound. By the time they arrived at the hospital, there was no doubt that Andria was indeed in labor (she was just 32 weeks along). Before they could do anything to stop the contractions, her water broke. Realizing the baby was going to be born tonight, they checked to see how things were progressing and realized the baby was breech. With so many unknowns and an obviously premature baby on the way, they decided the best thing would be a C-section. Because Andria was so close to giving birth, they opted to put her under rather than do a spinal in hopes that they could stop the contractions. HOWEVER, God had different plans! Before the doctor could operate and just moments after Andria lost consciousness, little Gabriel Lance was born at 11:37pm weighing 3 pounds, 15 ounces! It took a little while to stabilize him, but he seems to be doing really well now! Andria came out of her almost-surgery just fine and very relieved to have avoided the C-section! We are all praising God for taking care of Andria & Gabriel and for His mercy in helping them avoid the surgery! God is so good!

Gabriel Lance - precious little boy

What an amazing night! Incredibly thankful!
