Today started off like a regular day. The beginning of a busy weekend. Luke had come in last night, so he & Jordan were going to be hanging out together doing boy stuff all day.
 |
Serena had opened her kitchen drawer (it has sippy cups, snack cups, and baby silverware in it) and left it open. Bret had never gotten to play in this drawer before, and when he found it, he had SUCH a great time! He was one happy dude! |
 |
Serena has not been so interested in playing with those things since she was Bret's age, haha! ;) |
 |
I love Serena's pigtails! |
 |
She likes pockets! ;) |

"Don't smile, Serena!! Do. NOT. Smile!" Why does that work so well???? |
Then, a while after putting Bret down for his morning nap, I made a trip to the bathroom. Serena insisted on coming along and wanted to do the whole works: take her pants off, take her diaper off, sit on her potty. AND then she
went! I should preface this by saying that I had been planning to give potty training another whirl on Tuesday (wanted to get the weekend and our Monday errand-running out of the way first), so I was already somewhat prepared. Had been thinking up a little game plan and had even picked up a book of stickers last week. Serena has been showing a renewed interest in all things potty for a week or so. So, I thought, why wait?? Let's run with it and see what happens! I started making a big deal about it and then suggested that we put a sticker on a paper to help us remember how exciting this was! Of course, Serena was ALL about
that, so off we go to get a sticker. Like I said, I was
planning to start this adventure on Tuesday; also in my plans was to make an elaborate (or at least special) sticker chart-thingy over the weekend for her to record her successful potty trips on. As it was, I pulled out a little pink Post-It note. :P No sooner did she pick a sticker and place it oh-so-carefully on her Post-It note, than she RUSHED back to the potty to do "MORE!!!" I suggested we bring the potty into the kitchen, which we did, and she subsequently spent the rest of her waking hours on the potty (except when she was carrying it to and from the bathroom to empty its contents or when she was picking out stickers)!

Pookie on the potty (notice crossed ankles, heehee!) |

Picking out a sticker. She always looks the page over very carefully, as if she's trying to make up her mind...and then she picks the next on in the row!!! That's my little perfectionist, haha! ;) |

Putting a sticker on her Post-It note |
By naptime, Serena had gone 6 times in the potty! After her nap, she spent every possible moment on the potty (took breaks to eat supper, take a bath, and go with Daddy to feed the doggies; all of which she did in undies, which she kept dry!). I did try to push water a bit. I figured since she wanted to sit there, I might as well set her up for lots of successes to help keep her interest. Once she got going, she was going every few minutes. No joke! She went
FIFTEEN times between 3:30 and 7:00
!!!!
