Playing Doctor

I just switched the kids' toys around again, and the doctor's kit made a reappearance...just in time for the kids' well-child check-ups!  ;)

They had their well-child check-ups on Wednesday.  Serena's last well-child check-up was at 6 months, and we had never taken Bret to see a doctor at all.  They are both so healthy and developing so well, we just didn't feel the need; particularly since we've decided to forego vaccinations.  But, I needed to meet with a doctor at the hospital where we're having our next baby so I could secure them as our 'family doctor' and have a name to put down as the 'baby's doctor' when the baby is born.  So, I decided to go ahead and have her look at the kids and do a regular 'well-child exam' while we were at it!  I had a great talk with the doctor and really enjoyed the fact that she didn't even blink an eyelash or give me a 'talking to' about our skipping vaccinations!  So nice after our experiences in Des Moines.  :P  Anyway, Serena is right in the middle percentiles with her height/weight...31.4 lbs and 36 inches.  Bret, on the other hand, is in the less-than-ten-percentile for height/weight...21.4 lbs and 29 inches.  BUT, Serena was the same way at his age, so I'm not too worried.  She's only caught up to her age group in the last 6 months or so, and I suppose Bret is just planning to do something similar.  They were as healthy as could be in every way, and did SO well letting the doctor poke and prod and look in their ears and eyes and mouths!  It was actually kinda fun!  ;)
