Serena is starting to enter into the "I-can-do-it-all-by-myself" stage of toddlerhood. This is fun in some ways, but in other ways it makes things a little more difficult. Sometimes, we have to be pretty creative in the approach we take to things so as to avoid a conflict of interests. ;) Serena has always LOVED getting her teeth brushed, but in the past week or so it's become a battle zone. NOT because she doesn't want her teeth brushed. No, it's a battle over WHO gets to brush her teeth...her or Mommy. At first, I tried the "my turn, your turn" thing, but pretty soon she wasn't giving me a long enough turn to even get the toothbrush inside her mouth! Then, one night, Daddy got her ready for bed since I was nursing Bret. Serena let him brush her teeth without protest!!! Of course, Daddy's been brushing her teeth ever since! ;)
Daddy's turn (Notice she's playing with our tube of toothpaste...she's figured out how to unscrew caps! This is not an accomplishment that Mommy is very excited about!! Lock the cupboards!!!!)
Serena's turn
Wow, these posts about Bret are SO exciting these days, aren't they? ;)

way to go jordy!!! :) serena's so cute in her track suit!
btw - i was just thinking that her "i can do it myself" toothbrushing probably started around the night i "helped" her when mom and i put her to bed. she made pretty sure she was the one to do it the most, lol! i helped get it in, and that was about it! :) silly girl!
Haha, thanks a lot, Julie! ;)
Fun times for me to look forward too! Too cute. Isn't life wonderful when daddy can rescue the situation! :-)
