It did not feel AT ALL like Easter Sunday at our house today. :( There were no worship services or hymns of the resurrection or pretty dresses or egg hunts. We stayed home to take care of our poor sick baby girl. She actually had a really good morning, but after her nap she got progressively more emotional and cuddly. She refused to have supper in her high chair and would only eat if she was sitting in my lap. Even then, she didn't eat much.
There were still a few funny things that happened today. Serena was busy putting things in Rocky's kennel for a while this afternoon while I was feeding Bret. After Bret was done, I put him down for a minute to switch the laundry and came back just in time to see Serena hold both hands out to Bret (like she wanted to pick him up) and then point to the kennel saying, "Uh!" I was half-afraid she was going to follow through on her suggestion, but she moved on as I came into the room and moved Bret on. ;)
This afternoon, I was sitting on the floor nursing Bret and feeding Serena pieces of string cheese at the same time. It was all going along fine until I needed to switch Bret to the other side. I put the string cheese (which had come apart into two long sections, one quite a bit bigger than the other) down on the sling next to me so I could use both hands with Bret. I had intended to keep my eye on the cheese and grab it as soon as I had a free hand again, but Serena started 'talking' with me about Bret's having ninny. While I was distracted, a certain black-and-white member of our family (who was sitting nearby) sneaked up and grabbed the larger section of the cheese. I'm sure she would have grabbed the rest of it, too, if I hadn't sensed her presence and turned just in time to catch her in the act!!! She gulped the cheese down as fast as she could and went back to her original spot a foot or so away (next to Jordan). She acted like she was sorry, but the look on her face was SO not sorry! I was annoyed, but what can you do? I fed Serena the rest of the cheese and thought maybe she would be fine. However, all of this was not lost on Serena. She knew that more than half of her cheese had just been eaten by Macy, and as soon as Serena had crammed the last string of cheese in her mouth, she started signing for more. I told her she would have to ask Daddy since I was a little indisposed. ;) So, Serena turned to Jordan and signed 'more' and pointed at the fridge. Jordan looked apologetic and said, "You want more cheese? You'll have to talk to Macy about that!" Ever persistent, Serena then turned to Macy, signed 'more' and said "Eh!" as she pointed at the fridge while looking meaningfully at Macy! Jordan & I got a good laugh out of it as he went to get her another piece of cheese.
Bumbo boy. Still doesn't like it for more than a few minutes, but it's kinda fun to have him in it!
I found these jammies at a garage sale a couple weekends ago. They are light and silky, so even though they have snowmen all over them, I thought they would work for this summer. Serena is fascinated by the snowmen! She kept pointing to them while I changed her this morning after she woke up. "Look! There's another one!" ;)

I figured this day was coming!!! This morning, Serena sat down and nursed her baby! First, she got the Boppy pillow carefully situated on her lap. Then, she picked up her baby and laid her down on the pillow. Next, she pulled up her shirt, helped her baby 'latch on,' and sat there looking around nonchalantly while her baby nursed! She made sure to point out to me that her baby was having ninny (that's what she's doing in the big picture of this collage).

I have been getting such a kick out of Serena's play now that she's a toddler. She just stays so busy all the time, sometimes doing the silliest things! I often wonder how she decides what she will do next?! Today, she went into the toy room and grabbed her tea party bag, carried it into the living room, sat down, dumped the tea party out, and then stuck the bag on her head!????? She looked around to see what things looked like from in there, and then took it off. This bag is made of very stiff plastic, so I'm not worried about her asphyxiating herself with it; however, I'll take it as a fair warning to diligently keep shopping bags out of reach!

Look at that happy little guy! He was hanging out with Daddy while I put Serena to bed.
