The Fourth of July

We had lots going on today, so there are lots of pictures! :)

We spent the morning getting everything ready for the big Fourth of July party. The boys were busy outside getting pools and lawn chairs ready and dog poop scooped and other miscellaneous projects. We girls stayed busy inside. I delayed getting Serena dressed as long as I could because so hopefully she would still look fresh and cute when people started arriving. She ran around in just her diaper until about noon. With guests arriving any minute, I grabbed her and put her cute little patriotic outfit on. Then, she ran off to play. The next time I saw her, she was all wet down her front from playing in the pool and her hair was sweaty and disheveled. Oh well, such is the life of a toddler! ;)

Bret & Serena enjoying some time with Grandpa

Serena needed Grandpa to kiss her owie, heehee!

I tried to get a picture of Serena in her patriotic outfit...it was hard!

Her shirt said "Freedom Flies" and the flag was made out of butterflies :)

Little orphan Caroline, as Jordan said! We've all been giving her extra lovin'!

Mr. Bret! Such a happy guy!

Serena hitched a ride on Uncle Grant's shoulders when we got to the fairgrounds for the fireworks in Central City. He took her to meet some of his friends. They all loved how she said "'Sup"! ;)

Serena & Uncle Grant

Grandpa had the O's...which meant he had the exclusive attention of two little girls!

Mmm...such a yummy snack! Uncle Luke started to try to get Serena to come sit with him, but she wouldn't leave Grandpa and the O's...UNTIL I gave Luke a string cheese to entice her with. Suddenly, she ditched poor Grandpa and was on Luke's lap happily eating cheese, haha!

Aunt Anna is SO fun!

Both of the girls loved playing with Aunt Anna while we waited for the fireworks

Pals.
Serena has been sleeping in Aunt Anna's room during our visit, and seems to like it a lot. She's only woken up once in the middle of the night so far, and she's been taking REALLY long naps! Today, when I was going to put Serena down for her nap, she wanted to sleep with one of Anna's stuffed animals!

About 5 minutes before starting the fireworks, they set off a really loud one to warn everyone that they were almost ready to start the show. At the time, Serena was playing by herself with something. When she heard the boom, she looked up with big wide eyes and then just PANICKED! She ran around in a little circle a couple times and then just took off in a straight line!! I grabbed her as she went by, so she didn't get too far, but we all wondered where she thought she was headed??? It was SO funny! It looked like someone had just wound her up and let her go, almost like a cartoon!

This was Serena's first fireworks show. She was very pensive about them at first. She wasn't really sure what to think of them.

After a while, she warmed up and would sign for more every time there was the shortest lull in the show!

Yep, he slept through his first fireworks show!

Grandma & Grandpa with the girls

Getting a ride back to the truck! It was a late night for our little munchkin!
