Serena Meets Lisa

Have I mentioned how amazing the weather has been???  I'm loving it!  This evening, I thought I'd take the kids for a walk before supper, but we didn't end up going anywhere.  Instead, I plopped them down in the leaves and started taking pictures!  It was fun!

This morning, we went to the library for Toddler Time.  Serena is really starting to get the hang of the drill.  She walks right up there, picks out her sticker and puts it in the column next to her name.  Then she picks out a mat to sit on, gets her nametag, and waits and watches.  Today, the regular teacher, Miss Tia, was gone; so Lisa led the class in her stead.  When Serena found out the teacher's name was Lisa, her eyes got so big!  Lisa is the name of the girl in the "Corduroy" books that Serena loves so much!!  And now, here was Lisa sitting right in front of her about to read her a story!!!  It was obvious that Serena regarded her as a sort of celebrity!  ;)  During the 'activity' time, there were a couple pumpkins for the kids to scoop seeds out of and play with.  Whenever she got a turn at the pumpkin, Serena just wanted to put the seeds back inside the pumpkin!  Yes, that would be my perfectionistic child!  ;P

Today was the first time that we had to return a book to the library that Serena had truly come to love.  It was "Guess How Much I Love You," a story about a Little Nutbrown Hare and a Big Nutbrown Hare.  I made a big deal about giving it back to the library today in hopes of her remembering where it was when we didn't have it tonight.  It worked!  Tonight, she remembered that we didn't have the "Bunnies" book and told me that they had gone "sleepy" at the "libahyah."

For the rest of the day, and even as I was putting her to bed tonight, Serena would randomly bring up Lisa telling her a story.  It made quite an impression on her!

I think Bret might be teething again.  He's having some rough nights.  Poor little guy!  But, he pulled himself up on a chair at the library and he's also figured out how to sit up all by himself!
