What Bret's Up To

Our little Bretster is quite the personality.  How to convey it in words has got me completely stumped!  He's ever so sweet, very busy copying Serena, gets SO excited about stuff (like when we're going to go outside, or read his favorite book - "Moo, Baa, Lalala" by Sandra Boynton, - or when he sees Daddy), is very social, likes to try to put things together, and is completely obsessed with balls. Kid always has a ball in one hand!  He finally started saying "Bah!" instead of "Gah!" when he sees balls, but he is still convinced that apples are balls.  ;)  When I say, "What song should we sing?" Bret whips out his finger and starts waving it in the air because his favorite song is "This Little Light of Mine."  He's mastered the art of nodding his head and confidently gives the affirmative to the appropriate questions.  It's so cute how deliberate it is!  If anyone talks to him (stranger or friend), he is usually quick to respond with a string of baby talk, which always gets great reactions from people.  Bret always looks a little surprised that they get such a kick out of it (I think he really thinks he's saying something to them), but then he smiles because making people happy seems to give him such delight.  If he catches the word "hi" or even sometimes "high" in a conversation, he starts waving.  If he's prompted to say "hi" he waves as well.  If he senses that someone is even so much as preparing to leave, he starts waving "bye"!  He's really big about copying noises and can say "Mama," "Dada," "Nmnm-NA" (Serena), "bah" (ball), "gah-gah" (doggie), "niminimi" (ninny), and I think that's pretty much it.  He also makes lots of different animal noises (hence his love for the "Moo, Baa, Lalala" book), and even started saying "Mmmmm!" when he saw a toy cow the other day!  It's been fun, because Serena was never so adventurous in her attempts to talk at that age.  You could barely get a "Mama" or "Dada" out of her!  Bret also signs "More" and "All done" and gives nice hugs if you ask him to "give me some love."  Wish I had time to post some of my videos so you could get a better idea of what a great little guy he is, but I guess this will have to do for now!  ;)
