My poor little bambina was stung today!!!! :(
First off, she wasn't in that great of a mood right from the get-go this morning; so I was quite relieved when she wanted to go outside by herself and play with her water bucket/cups. FINALLY, I can work on sorting the laundry! A few minutes later, I heard her at the door scuh-REAMING. Serena is far from a drama queen, so the fact that she was screaming made me drop the basket I had in my hands and run for the door to see what could possibly be wrong!! As I opened the door, she came over the threshold sobbing and holding up her left forearm, wanting me to kiss it. "What happened?" I asked her. In a very teary voice she managed, "Ffwyy!" Upon further inspection of her forearm (which she kept holding up to my lips for more kisses), I discovered the tell-tale poke that looked so red and angry! :( Poor baby! I'm sure that what happened was that she saw that "fly" land within reach and tried to swat it with her hand, as she has seen Jordan do so many times before! Up till now, all the "flies" she's tried to swat were houseflies, but this time it was apparently a wasp!! :( I picked her up and held her for a while and she just cried and cried; and between sobs she asked for "Dada"!! The site of the sting did swell a little; but by the end of today, you could barely tell. When we went to camp a little while later, she proudly showed Dada (and everyone else who asked) where her "Owwah" was!
Bret has discovered that rolling gets him places! He also tries to push himself with his feet, and every once in a while manages to scoot a couple of inches! I took this picture so you can see how much ground he can cover. I had originally set him down at the edge of the play mat, facing the blue thing!

Serena's newest swinging technique! ;)
Yesterday when we were at Walmart, I picked up a potty for Serena. She has been showing more interest in the potty and awareness of what happens in the bathroom. Last week she even told me "Poo-poo" right before she dirtied her diaper! Also last week, I was changing her and got distracted by Bret while Serena was in between diapers. Serena jumped up and started wandering around the room. Suddenly, she was back at my side saying "Wet, wet" over and over. Sure enough, she had wet herself! So, there is obviously some awareness and understanding. I'm not planning to potty train just yet; but I want to be ready whenever she is. Hopefully she won't be ready until camp is over! ;)
So, this afternoon after Serena's nap, we opened up her new potty and made a big deal out of it. She LOVES it. She thinks it's really great to sit on it and to open and close the lid!
